The Origin Story

From a side street in the East Village to wherever you are right now.

Death & Co opened in January 2007 in a small, dark room on East 6th Street in Manhattan. No gimmicks, no theme — just an obsessive commitment to what was in the glass and the connection that cocktails built. The bar won Best American Cocktail Bar and World's Best Cocktail Menu at Tales of the Cocktail in 2010. From there came books, more bars, and an incredible worldwide community.

Through all of it, one thing stayed constant: we taught everything we knew. To our bartenders, in our books, across our bars. Fashioned is that same teaching instinct, made for your screen, available anywhere, built to last.

Every recipe we've ever published has been tested, tasted, and refined until it was its best possible version. We bring the same standard to every lesson. We don't teach shortcuts. We teach the foundational “why” behind every move — because a bartender who understands a drink can fix it.

A technically perfect cocktail is only as good as the hospitality that accompanies it. Death & Co was built on the belief that the feeling a drink creates matters as much as what's in it. Connection runs through everything we teach.
